What is Counselling?

Counselling is a way of addressing problems by exploring personal feelings with someone who, whilst supportive, is not directly involved in the situation.

A Counsellor will:

  • help you to express your feelings

  • help you to explore and understand your difficulties

  • help you to find ways of managing these more effectively

Confidentiality

Counselling takes place under strict conditions of confidentiality and generally nothing you discuss will be disclosed to anyone without your permission. this is explained in detail at your first session.

Counselling may help with:

  • Depression

  • Anxiety

  • Unhappiness

  • Overwhelm

  • Addiction

  • relationship Issues

  • Learning difficulties

  • Weight issues

Counselling can help you develop skills and strategies to enable you to cope with your problems and to make your life and your relationships better.

How often and how long do I need to come to Counselling?

When you first come to counselling you may wish to come every week. As time goes on you may come once a fortnight or once a month. It is your choice. Counselling continues for as long as you and/or your counsellor feel it is necessary. It could be for just a few weeks or for a few months
